What a fantastic exhibition of talent. The 15 strong field that took off for Boscombe, was clearly a crew of accomplished paddler and quality athletes. All i can say is the public were stirrred. With the buzz on the beach and the spectacle of the boats, I had several enquiries from passersby about how they could get into the sport. Thanks for making the trip from all over the country to take part and support the Branksome Lifesaving Club. I do apologise for the extortionate prices for parking. I hope to do something about that by next year. For once, the awesome weather made the event a great day out for the paddlers and for the families. Usually, supporters and family members hang around in the cold and rain while we enjoy ourselves out at sea. Today the beach was bliss, thanks weather man.
London Paddler Steve Baker made light work of the 10km and posted a sub 50 mins 49:00.This sets a great target for us locals. When conditions are favourable the B2B is one of our favourite training paddler and is set to be an even more popular when the Boscombe reef is finally complete and um "doubles the size of the waves". Closely followed by Ken Loftus (London) and Richard England(Sussex). These paddler should feature in the Lulworth race on the 7th June. Im sure the open water will make the competition interesting over 15Km.
